The practice environment
Devonshire Square is a tranquil oasis in the middle of the City. It is reached via the small pedestrian street Devonshire Row, just opposite Liverpool Street station, and off Bishopsgate. The Square contains a circle of pleached lime trees. Devonshire Osteopaths is on the top (4th) floor of a small well proportioned building in the western corner of the Square. It is reached by lift or the wood-panelled staircase.
The treatment rooms provide a calm environment for our practice. The rooms enjoy natural lighting, with views over the City, including the Gherkin. We also have a roof garden. Inside, we have a large charcoal drawing (Three Male Dancers), by Tom Merrifield, a number of life drawings by Gil Mutch and pattern canvas by Jacqui Poncelet.
We have produced exercise and movement advice sheets for patients. Samples of these are illustrated on the website. The drawings were done for us by an artist and patient, Melinda McCarthy.
Devonshire Osteopaths also runs a weekly osteopathic clinic at Toynbee Hall, a well-known local community centre established in the nineteenth century. It has a number of practical innovative programmes to meet the needs of local people in E1 and the surrounding area. Our clinic supports the work of the Link Age Plus project at Toynbee Hall, for those aged 50-plus .
